The film was started by Minh Anh Nguyen and Kevin Beckmann in the first semester of their studies at the HfG and now had its world premiere at the "Sehsüchte" festival on April 22.

The project was funded by the Zeitbild-Lab of the HfG in the first call and received support from the AStA and the Cultural Office of the City of Karlsruhe, among others. More than 40 students from all departments of the HfG were involved. The project was realized as a free project and supervised by Ludger Pfanz, former professor Răzvan Rădulescu and former academic employee Dr. Christine Reeh-Peters in media art. The seminar and cooperation will be led by Carmen Beckenbach (Kinemathek Karlsruhe) and Laura Morcillo (Zeitbild-Lab, HfG).

The film will be screened at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe on May 13, 2022 at 7pm. This will take place as part of the "Karlsruhe Window". The seminar and collaboration will be led by Laura Morcillo. Tickets are available here: https://kinemathek-karlsruhe.de/film/to-cut-a-long-story-short/

To Cut A Long Story Short" will also have a screening at the HfG in July as part of the "30 Jahre HfG" film festival. More info will follow here: https://www.hfg-karlsruhe.de/aktuelles/30-jahre-hfg-filmfestival/

"To Cut A Long Story Short" is a parable of the inevitability and hopelessness of sentimental love. The opera singer presents the success of her speed diet and gives helpful tips for follow-up problems.
The reserved brunette meets the charismatic macho who tries to lure her out of the net of her insecurity. Their joint odyssey leads them to a deserted island, to a swimming pool at night and into a Dionysian bathroom. Too bad she's a fish who's afraid of the sea.
The redheads meet on the dance floor and speak as if from the same mouth. Magic carries them away, but why, of all things, does the schizophrenic have to show up in the jungle?
And then there is the night porter, who is secretly dancing in the hotel's staff toilet. He obviously has a crush on the pretty waitress from the diner around the corner, but while he's ogling her over the covers of his Camus book, the stranger suddenly appears and everyone takes a different direction ...
