A jury composed of representatives of the Kunstverein "Das Damianstor" Bruchsal, the Lions-Club Bruchsal-Schloss and the HfG Karlsruhe awarded the Giovanni Francesco Marchini Prize 2018, endowed with 4000 €, to the artist, scenographer and HfG alumna Sophie Lichtenberg.

For the first time the Lions Club Bruchsal-Schloss donates the Giovanni Francesco Marchini Prize, which is awarded to graduate students of the HfG Karlsruhe.
This prize consists of a 12-month working scholarship and a solo exhibition in the Kunstverein "Damianstor" Bruchsal, linked to an art project with students of the Bruchsal Pestalozzi School, which the fellow develops and implements with the children. The prize is named after the Baroque painter Giovanni Francesco Marchini, who created the frescos in the Hofkirche, that was destroyed during the Second World War, and the façade painting on the garden side of the Bruchsal Castle.

The awarding of the Giovanni Francesco Marchini Prize will take place on Sunday, 3 February at 11 am in the Chamber Music Hall of the Bruchsal Castle. Afterwards you can visit the exhibition of the prizewinner "Children of the Olympe" at a champagne reception in Damianstor in the rooms of the Kunstverein.

The exhibition can be seen in the Kunstverein Damianstor from February 3 to March 2, Saturday from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Admission free.

Sophie Lichtenberg, born in Hamburg in 1989, studied exhibition design and scenography, media art and art research and media philosophy from 2010 to 2017 at the HfG Karlsruhe. She works as a freelance artist and scenographer and is part of the artist collective Theater Performance Kunst RAMPIG.
