We are delighted to welcome Nannet van der Kleijn to Karlsruhe during this summer term as Brückenprofessorin at HfG Karlsruhe. Join us for a lecture by Nannet van der Kleijn on June 7 at Glaskubus.

In FLOATING IDENTITIES Nannet will guide the students in amplifying and developing their voice as a creator and creative thinker. It will be a staccato mix and rhythm of group exercises as well as individual explorations. Towards the development of a personal project, product or experience, whatever comes natural and matches the already emerging autonomous practice identity. All to surprise yourself and so the world. Nannet will meet you Tuesdays at 14:00 for a series of activations and guided work sessions concluding in a collective gathering at the end of the day. Wednesdays from 9:00 - 12:00 will be a time for sharing results and collective evaluation as part of the process of creation.

About Nannet van der Kleijn After 35 years of work in the fields of fashion, design, art, architecture, spirituality and communication, van der Kleijn describes herself as an "architect of dialogue". With her designs she reacts to changes in society and wants to accompany the change of cultures of nature and people. Her work follows the design principle she developed at the Design Academy between ’94 and ’04 "When Form Follows Value, Emotional Design is Created". Based on her practical spiritual study Raja Yoga at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. In a seminar at the HfG Karlsruhe, she will convey this compassionate design approach to art and design to the students and give them the opportunity to explore their identity in material and mental form.

Van der Kleijn studied fashion design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. As a designer, she designed for brands such as Mexx, Easy Pieces, G-Star, Telecom, and Hilton and (co-)initiated the Fashion brand and creative community Orson & Bodil. In addition to her work in fashion, she was also involved in the development of interfaces as creative director in the SIEMENS DESIGN LAB. In 2005 she returned to the Amsterdam Fashion Institute with the task of re-establishing the connection between teaching and industry as creative director. She is also a board member of the Master Tailor Institute, a foundation dedicated to restoring the quality of tailoring in the Netherlands. Her latest work is ‘Stemmen Schilderij’ – ‘Painting with Voices’. A site-specific work at Museum Prinsenhof Delft.
