The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design is proud to announce its new Visiting Scholar Samir Gandesha.

Samir Gandesha is Associate Professor in the Department of the Humanities and the Director of the Institute for the Humanities at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. His research focuses on critical social theory in light of newer authoritarian developments, on social philosophy and political theory, on theories of technology and on contemporary aesthetics.

Gandesha stays at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design from January to February to establish and deepen research relationships and discuss timely perspectives of critical scholarship and institutional policy.

Next to numerous publications in a variety of internationally renowned anthologies and journals, he is co-editor (with Lars Rensmann) of Arendt and Adorno: Political and Philosophical Investigations (Stanford University Press, 2012), of The Spell of Capital: Reification and Spectacle (University of Amsterdam Press, 2017) and Aesthetic Marx (Bloomsbury Press, 2017) (both with Johan Frederik Hartle).

He held research fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley, was Liu Boming Visiting Scholar in Philosophy at the University of Nanjing and Visiting Lecturer at Suzhou University of Science and Technology in China.
