Serpil Turhan's film KÖY in the selection for the German Film Award

Serpil Turhan, substitute professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe in the field of media art, has been shortlisted for the German Film Award with her film KÖY.
The documentary Köy (Turkish for village) accompanies Kurdish women from three different generations and over three years. In intensive conversations with Serpil Turhan, the women provide a deep insight into their past and present, their convictions and plans for the future, as well as their feelings and thoughts. In their common questions about self-determination and belonging, their stories intertwine. A multi-layered film about the longing for belonging, home and freedom.
Nominations for the 2023 Film Awards will be announced on 24.3.23.
