THE WORKSHOP ON SEPTEMBER 28 TAKES PLACE AS A COOPERATION BETWEEN THE LAW FORUM FOUNDATION AND THE STUDENT INITIATIVE "COMMUNITY TOOLKIT WORKSHOP" OF THE KARLSRUHE UNIVERSITY OF ARTS AND DESIGN
From Lützerath to Hambacher Forst: Political protests raise questions about activism, law, justice and the status of nature conservation. Who has what power to act? Where are the limits of political protest and what is the role of the judiciary? These are the questions that the workshop offered by the Law Forum Foundation and the student initiative "Community Toolkit Workshop" at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design takes a close look at. On Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the workshop will focus on the separation of powers in practice, using the eviction of Lützerath as an example. The aim of the offering is to understand how the rule of law works in practice and how law and politics can be effectively shaped.
The free workshop from the series "Ants on an Open Field" takes a look at five groups of people from politics, the judiciary and society who shaped the decision-making process in the eviction of Lützerath in very different ways. Which interests were pitted against each other in Lützerath? What were the lawsuits against? What was the final verdict on? What information was disseminated in the media? And what scope and limits of action do demonstrators, police and courts have in a public protest?
