There are many opportunities as a student to spend time abroad: semesters abroad and placements, stays during and out of semester time, project-related stays, and of course, excursions in the framework of regular courses of study.
Sufficient preparation time should be considered in organization for staying abroad: At least half a year before traveling within Europe, and a whole year before traveling outside of Europe or as a free mover.
HfG Karlsruhe maintains many cooperations and exchange programs with partner universities world-wide. The International Office supports students with planning and accomplishing stays abroad.
This is in many ways the most uncomplicated opportunity to stay abroad. There is less paperwork in comparison to other options and in foreign European countries, exchange students receive financial support within the framework of Erasmus+ from participating partner universities. There are no tuition fees due to the partnership, and the recognition of study credits is ensured.
As a state-wide coordination point with a seat at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, the consortium KOOR/BEST supports outgoing Erasmus stays at HfG Karlsruhe.
In addition to Erasmus partner universities, there are many cooperations with universities in non-European countries. There are no tuition fees and the recognition of study credits is ensured.
Many universities without an existing partnership also accept students. For free movers tuition fees are to be expected in the university abroad. Students must organize the formalities of their stay abroad and the recognition of their study credits themselves.
Please contact the International Office for queries with regards to planning and accomplishing a stay abroad. We will gladly support you and answer questions on authorities, applications, deadlines, conditions and funding.
