The following position is currently available in the Media Art department at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG):
Academic Assistant for Media Art (m/f/d) (50%)
Remuneration is based on TV-L up to pay grade E 11 (50%), depending on personal qualifications. The position is limited until December 31, 2027, the end of the third-party funded project “Critical Faculties. BiPoC+ FLINTA* at Art Academies.”
Your responsibilities include:
Implementation, preparation, and communication of project-related events involving artistic and empirical qualitative research on the situation and experiences of BPOC FLINTA* at art academies in Germany, based in Karlsruhe.
Implementation of participatory practical research critical of power and discrimination based on the recommendations for action from scientific empirical research.
Support in the organization and implementation of conferences, a symposium, an exhibition, and a publication.
Independent development and responsibility for public relations and a social media campaign.
Documentation and archiving.
Writing of (interim) reports in coordination with the project management for the project sponsor.
Participation in and support of the symposia and conferences of the partner project at the HFG Karlsruhe.
The area of responsibility is subject to change.
Requirements for employment:
Master's degree with a focus on art, social sciences, humanities, or a comparable qualification.
Project experience in the field of intersectional/anti-racist/postcolonial education in pedagogical areas/participatory practice research critical of power and discrimination.
Experience with empowerment- and resource-oriented event management.
Experience in artistic research at the intersection of art, intersectionality, and empowerment
Interest in developing campaigns to increase the visibility of marginalized BPOC in art and research
Discrimination-critical language sensitivity in public communication
Experience working with a team of artistic BPOC researchers
High degree of independence, organizational skills, reliability
Very good German skills and confident written and spoken English
Local network in Karlsruhe
Proven knowledge of current discourses on discrimination criticism
Proficiency in Office applications and web and graphic design programs is an advantage
Public relations and social media campaign experience is desirable
Experience with third-party funded projects is an advantage
