The Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Karlsruhe is looking to fill the following parental leave position in the Communication Design department from 11.10.2025:

Parental leave replacement (80%) - Academic assistant in the Communication Design program (m/f/d)

The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) is looking for a committed employee (m/f/d) to cover maternity leave and probably subsequent parental leave in the field of communication design. Remuneration is according to TV-L up to pay group E 13, depending on personal requirements. The position is temporary for the duration of the maternity leave and is expected to last one year.

Your tasks include:

  • Organizational and administrative work in the self-administration of the department
  • Conducting own courses in basic studies, teaching the usual layout and design skills, teaching subject-related basic skills
  • Conception, organization and implementation of interdisciplinary projects and excursions
  • Supervision and support of professors, external lecturers and students

We reserve the right to change the area of responsibility.

Recruitment requirements:

  • Completed qualified university degree in graphic or communication design or a comparable course of study
  • Special achievements in design practice
  • Willingness for organizational and administrative tasks
  • The position requires presence in Karlsruhe
  • Very good knowledge of German and a confident command of written and spoken English
