This year, the HfG is represented with another alumnus at the DokKa Documentary Film Festival 2019 in Karlsruhe. Bernd Schock shows his film "Olanda" on May 31 at 9:15pm in the Kinemathek Karlsruhe. The film premiered at the Forum of this year's Berlinale.

The movie "Olanda" shows big and small stories. The focus is on a seasonal asset of the area - the mushroom. Among the people, the collectors are closest to him and the film is mostly with them: on walks through the woods, on the campsite, on car rides and talks. He tells the stories of the mushroom pickers by exploring their motivations and every day life.
He follows the rhizome-like ramifications that continue to branch out in the form of money: to local and international merchants, to an improvised shoe market in a clearing, to gambling among colleagues. The film tells about these trading cycles by assuming a mushroom-like structure without ever losing its center of thought.
Beyond an analysis of economic structures, however, it is also the sensual document of a rhythm of everyday life in the forest, as experienced by collectors as the first link in the recycling chain. In the cinema, he can be experienced as an audiovisual mushroom trip into the magical world of the Carpathian forests.
