The study at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design offers a unique opportunity for dedicated learning, research and experimental development. In order to learn to deal with a complex reality, the study program is organized across disciplines and interlinks the degree programs Communication Design, Product Design, Media Art, Exhibition Design and Scenography, Art Research and Media Philosophy. In the face of the changes brought about by new technologies, independent minds are more in demand than ever. The HfG Karlsruhe sees the design of the future as a central social task and is in exchange with one of the best and most innovative exhibition machines in the world – the ZKM | Center for Art and Media. As a basic condition for the development of the ZKM the HfG Karlsruhe was founded in 1992 by Prof. Dr. Heinrich Klotz. It has stood for a unique blend of teaching, research and exhibition machinery ever since.
