How to weave a website?

Paratext describes material surrounding a main object or text, in this case a small textile, adding information with the prospect of changing the reception of the original object. This paratext, written in the style of a RFC (Request for Comments), a classic format for technical proposals amongst internet developers, documents the process of hand-weaving a website and establishes an imaginative textile counterpart of the internet protocol (IP).

Indulging in the absurdity that is the fiber network, this website helps you connect with your fellow textile enthusiasts in eight simple steps: One can learn how to transcribe html into binary, construct the necessary hardware, transport data in form of string and of course add styling – and use the simple Flying Carpet Protocol (FCP) to deliver your website via the postal system.

This project sheds light on the complex physical structures that make up our modern day internet by stretching a fuzzy analogy to its limits.
