New Repro Regular questions our originals, critiquing the male gaze as an often unquestioned standard. In doing so, New Repro Regular focuses primarily on the perception of standards. Through an experiment, letters are created in imitation of Times New Roman - and take on a different message through blind imitation.
Setup: Two people side by side "A" and "B." "A" draws letter after letter, while the hand of "B" rests on the drawing hand of "A". Thus "B" follows the movements of "A" with closed eyes and tries to copy them with her other hand. A set of rules is derived from the shapes created. From this set of rules a system develops: New Repro Regular.
