Students project
The "Karlsruhe's Race Against Time: Designing the Library of the Future" was a collaborative student project developed during the "Latent Utopias" workshop at HfG Karlsruhe. With a focus on the intersection of technology and human interaction, it explored new ways of organizing the design process.
Centered around collaborative world-building using generative AI and large language models, the project reflected the workshop’s exploration of concepts through human-computer interaction, co-creation, and the incorporation of AI technologies.
Key aspects of the project included interactive storytelling and community-driven design, where diverse user groups were generated through AI to model and speculatively anticipate the needs of future communities.
As part of the HfG Karlsruhe’s annual exhibition, the project was presented as a multi-channel installation in Room 115. The installation invited visitors to immerse themselves in the collective vision of the participants and to engage with the various phases of the design process. Complementary video installations delved into the discourse on the concept of utopia, what it connotes, the questions raised by different artistic representations of utopia, and how different speculative utopian scenarios being woven around the ascendance of artificial intelligence-driven solutions influence those representations.
