9AM reflects the moment of waking up and focuses on the subtle gestures of the morning ritual. Shaking out the comforter becomes the first act of the day, a transition from rest to activity.
Inspired by the grid-like quilting of industrial down comforters, the design breaks away from this rigidity and allows the recycled down to distribute evenly.
The comforter, initially a private retreat, later transforms into a freestanding room divider. The morning light reveals its structure and creates an interplay of light and shadow.
The project was created during the 2025–26 winter semester in the “Interwoven” seminar led by Wieki Somers. It was developed collaboratively by Hannah Gebert and Pauline Kuch, both of whom are studying product design.
