Lydias mehrfach ausgezeichnete Forschung und Lehre verbindet die Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur mit der Medienphilosophie, der Wissenschafts- und Technologiegeschichte und -theorie (STS) sowie Ansätzen der Umweltwissenschaften. Sie hat bisher an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZhDK), der Columbia University GSAPP, The City College of New York, (CCNY), The Cooper Union und an der Princeton University gelehrt.
