Biografie

Simone Serlenga’s work explores the dialogue between scenography and media art, investigating how light, imagery, sound, and interactivity transform space into sensorial environments. His practice centers on the aesthetics of spectacle and how immersive installations shape perception and foster audience engagement. He has collaborated internationally with Big Art Group at MoMA PS1 in New York, Anne Duk Hee Jordan, ZKM Karlsruhe, Schaubühne, Sasha Waltz, Thomas Saraceno Studio, and Plastique Fantastique. Since 2020, he has led scenography at the Berlin Opera Academy, mentoring young stage designers in opera productions, a process that bridges tradition and experimentation, pedagogy and performance. With Overlapping Studio, founded in Berlin, Serlenga develops public installations that merge artistic research, interactive technology, and audience perception. His projects have been shown internationally and recognized with the DM Award–Kulturamt-ZKM Karlsruhe_Particles Ensemble, 2024 a 170m interactive installation, second prize at Schlosslichtspiele_Ai+Ga, 2023, the Bosch Parade Prize_The Voyage of the Ship of Fools, 2024, and the Biosphere Prize_Harmonic Evolutions, 2025 a 4 m 2millions LED public installation.
