The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) is seeking to fill the following position in its central IT department as soon as possible:
IT System Administrator / Information Security Officer (f/m/d) (50%)
Compensation is based on the TV-L collective bargaining agreement up to pay grade 12, depending on individual qualifications. This is a permanent part-time position; an increase to up to 75% is possible. You will take on a responsible role in the maintenance and further development of the HfG’s IT infrastructure (including from an information security perspective) and actively help shape the digital future of an innovative art and design university.
Your responsibilities include:
- Network and Infrastructure: Support, maintenance, and further development of central core IT systems Second-level support for central services and IT systems
- Support and consultation in the development of digital artistic and design projects
- Administration and further development of central services, in particular: Identity Management (PostgreSQL, OpenLDAP, Perl), DNS (ISC BIND, Unbound), DHCP (ISC), email services (Dovecot, Postfix, rspamd), cloud service (Nextcloud), Moodle, BigBlueButton
- Use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) with interoperability with MS Windows and macOS; virtualization on Proxmox clusters

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a comparable field, or completed vocational training as an IT specialist, state-certified technician, or equivalent professional experience
- Very good knowledge of IP networks (IPv4/IPv6), Layer 2 and Layer 3, Unix/Linux server systems, and virtualization
- Familiarity with terms and standards such as 802.1Q, MVRP/GVRP, nftables/iptables, KVM, NFS, SMB, and Ceph
- Strong sense of responsibility for stable and secure IT infrastructures
- High motivation, quick learner, quality-oriented, structured work style, strong communication skills, and service-oriented
- Very good German language skills and fluency in spoken and written English
