As part of the 200th anniversary exhibition of the Badischer Kunstverein "49 ° - Cultural Production Karlsruhe, open studios" HfG alumna Marleine Chedraoui has literally exhibited her studio and transformed it into a museum under the title Ein Haufen von Spänen ("A pile of shavings").

A museum supervisor awaited the visitors at the entrance to the studio, pointing out that they were not allowed to touch anything or take pictures. The visitors entered the studio through a long, narrow corridor leading to the artist's workspace. There was a pane of glass on the door, which allowed the view into the room, but denied access to it.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Badischer Kunstverein, artists gave an insight into their workplace each on one day.

Marlene Chedraoui was born in Ehden, Lebanon. She lives and works in Karlsruhe. After studying business administration, from which she graduated with a diploma, she worked in various companies, also as a manager. Subsequently, she worked as a consultant, trainer and coach. In 2006 she decided to study science oft art and philosophy at the University of Bremen. In 2007 she continued her studies of art history and media theory, exhibition design and curatorial practice as well as philosophy at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe, where she received her master's degree in 2012. As an artist, Marleine Chedraoui explores the medium of exhibition, which is also the mediating element of her own artistic practice. Exhibitions in Berlin, Bremen, Gera and Eupen (Belgium).
