One hundred years of radio: Stephan Krass reviews the success story of radio.

The birth certificate of radio in Germany is dated October 29, 1923. Just four years later, Charles Lindbergh's spectacular flight across the Atlantic could be followed by radio. From then on, world events reached even the most remote corners. All it took was the push of a button. Stephan Krass takes his readers on a brilliant journey through one hundred years of radio - from the promising beginnings in the Weimar Republic to the Gleichschaltung under Goebbels and the acoustic warfare of the Allied secret services to the legendary philosophical debates of the early Federal Republic, the radio plays, educational and entertainment programs, sports broadcasts and live reports. Finally, he looks at the most successful acoustic medium since the invention of radio: the podcast.
