Those who archive decide what remains. The Messy Archive Group cuts the linear threads of historiography and goes in search of traces of a possible but forgotten future. In a temporary archive, they excavate histories thought lost: How can they remember those who were never helped into visibility?
The Messy Archive Group uses various media - intervention, theater, performance, publication - to investigate voids in the memory work of feminist historiography. The literary basis is formed by texts by authors Kathy Acker, Linda Stupart, Virginia Woolf and Flora Tristan, among others.
