Exhibition-Project in the Artist in Residence Siegen

The HfG-Professor Susanne Kriemann presents her work „Hey Monte Schlacko, Dear Slagorg“ im Rahmen des Künstler:innenprogramms Artist in Residence Siegen on Oktober 23. The project was created in collaboration with the University of Siegen and the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen. The exhibition design was created by HfG alumna Leia Walz.

For the installation of the work, the shop windows of all floors of the vacent Karlstadt building in Siegen xity center will be activated.

Susanne Kriemann has been working with scientists from the University of Siegen and the local community on the history and flora of the regionally famous “Monte Schlacko”. “Hey Monte Schlacko, Dear Slagorg” stretches around the former department store like a metallurgical rind. Large-format prints on partly transparent textiles and papers are attached to the building in various layers.

‘Artist in Residence Siegen’ accompanies the extension of the university, which will take place over several years, and visibly reflects the significance of urban development in Siegen. Art reveals spaces of differentiated perception, critical reflection and will initiate social discourses with the planned interventions. The program aims to artistically examine the relationship between university and urban life anew in each case and to intervene in their public, social and media spaces for this purpose.
