The internationals symposium "After Memory" reflects on how memory is affected by endless social media feeds, clouded storage spaces, automated data storage, and networked communication technologies.
This presents both challenges and opportunities, as practices of remembering and forgetting are reconfigured and these competencies are transferred from institutional actors to civic initiatives and individuals. This also redefines the role of museums and archives, which are no longer solely responsible for historiography, but rather manage resources for a common future. The symposium brings together protagonists from art, science, technology, museology and activism to explore digital memory in its temporal, spatial and social manifestations.
The program, curated by Nathalia Lavigne, Víctor Fancelli Capdevila and Lisa Deml, takes place in partnership with the ZKM and the HfG and is open to all interested parties with free admission. Pre-registration is only requested for the morning workshops at: ten.yromemretfa(ta)ofni
