The Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe is still accepting applications for the winter semester 2022/2023 until 23 May for Exhibition Design and Scenography, Art Research and Media Philosophy. In a time of global upheaval, the HfG Karlsruhe unites art, critical theory and design and offers ways to rethink present and future freedom. It is constantly reinventing itself to shape the future.

At the HfG Karlsruhe, the community exchanges one-dimensional viewpoints for broader perspectives, uses objects and technology as tools for reflection and research, and understands freedom as something that is not given but created through self-reflection, self-organisation and re-appropriation of our media.

The HfG Karlsruhe is a design university that does not aim to produce the same solutions over and over again, but to question the function and meaning of design for producers and consumers. We expect graduates to become active citizens and master how to deal with doubt and criticism, to debate, provoke and contradict ideas."

The HfG Karlsruhe is always in exchange with national and international partners and is part of numerous cooperations and interdisciplinary projects, including with its neighbour, the ZKM | Centre for Art and Media.
