Congratulations Zhen Bian!

With his luminaire design “Deformation Under Pressure,“ Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) graduate Zhen Bian has redefined contemporary lighting. The lamp, which takes its shape from air pressure, features a transparent, inflated body held in place by a wire-rope tensioning system, allowing it to be oriented in all directions. This innovative approach earned him 1st place at the SaloneSatellite Award 2024 during Milan Design Week. His experimental vision was further recognized with the Prize for the Most Experimental Design at Design Shanghai Talents 2024, while his Bubble Lamp was featured in Interni & Decor Korea 2024. His work also won the Dezeen Awards China in the Furniture Category 2024 and was showcased at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025, contributing to his growing presence in contemporary luminaire design.
