At first glance, Patrick Bateman appears to be a normal, egomaniacal Wall Street yuppie, but behind the façade of the proper, suave bon vivant lies a murderous abyss. Patrick has turned to serial murder to fill the void of his existence, which is only illuminated by status symbols. As he finds it increasingly difficult to distinguish between fantasy and reality, the police get involved.

The film will be shown as part of the film series "The Cinema of Euphoria", in which the Kino im Blauen Salon explores the concept of euphoria and puts it up for discussion in its many different representations and evocations.

More about the film series "The Cinema of Euphoria"

Euphoria is one of those words that we have inherited from the ancient Greeks. And as with many of these words, the question is: what does it even mean? And since we are a film club, the question is of course: what does it mean to feel euphoria at the movies? Does the selection of films we have put together make us happy, in love with life? Can films still do this in an age in which the image has lost its power due to its inherent oversaturation?

In this summer semester, carried along by spring, we will take you on a journey that examines the concept of euphoria in all its diverse representational and evocative possibilities. From Jackie Chan to Werner Herzog, from Singing in the Rain to Leos Carax!
