At the state-wide study information day, pupils and prospective students can find out about study opportunities at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG).

Wednesday, November 19, 2025 - 10:00-14:00 Location: Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (in the Hallenbau, Lorenzstraße 15) Program

10:00 a.m. - Welcome Opening of the Study Info Day by the Rectorate of the HfG.
Presentation of the program and brief overview of the university.

10:10 a.m. - The HfG Karlsruhe introduces itself What makes the HfG special?
Insights into the special study model with Diplom and Magister, interdisciplinary cooperation, international orientation and the workshops.
Information on the application phase and portfolio advice in spring 2026.

10:20 a.m. - The AStA at the HfG The AStA team presents its activities - from student projects to parties, choir and hands-on programs.

10:30 a.m. - Project presentation Eun Soo Choi presents the third-party funded project “BPOC FLINTA at universities”.

10:40 - 11:30 a.m. - Department presentations Get to know the four departments of the HfG:

  • Product Design (PD)
  • Media Art (MK)
  • Communication Design (KD)
  • Art Studies and Media Theory (KuPhi)
  • Exhibition Design and Scenography (ADSZ)

Professors, academic staff and students provide insights into teaching, projects and working methods.

11:30 - 12:00 - Break and exchange Pretzels for free! Drinks sold by the AStA.
Time for discussions with students, lecturers and staff.
Registration for portfolio consultation at the TaTü (01.02.2026).

12:00 - 12:30 - Guided tours through departments and workshops Students will guide you through the studios and workshops of the university.

12:30 - 14:00 - Workshops to join in

  • 3D printing workshop: designing key rings & buttons (3D workshop, led by Simon Gehring & Finn De Bruyn)
  • Riso & screen printing workshop: Designing buttons and prints (Room 016, led by Tjark Schönfeld)

Meeting point for both workshops: Atrium of the HfG Karlsruhe

14.00 - 15.30 - Portfolio consultation as part of the study information day on site at the HfG

Admission is free. Registration is not required .

The study information day offers pupils, parents and interested parties the opportunity to get to know the HfG Karlsruhe, ask questions and gain a lively impression of studying at a university of art and design.
