KLAK stands for "Karlsruher Literatur Automaten Kollektiv" (the Karlsruhe Literature Vending Machine Collective) of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) and operates the book vending machine of the same name in the Hallenbau (the building connecting ZKM, HfG and other museum institutions). LIFT is the university's freight lift and is being repurposed for the Karlsruher Literaturtage (Karlsruhe Literature Days.) Ten listeners plus the lift operator travel up and down the three floors of the building. When the lift doors open, the view is unobstructed, revealing an author reciting their texts. Poetry and prose are on the programme. This allows the audience to navigate through different levels of text at the touch of a button. At the end of a cycle, the lift attendant asks the lift passengers to exit and a new group can check in for the reading tour. There will be two rounds of readings. All of the texts recited were written by the KLAK literary university group and are available from the KLAK book vending machine.

Location: Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, freight elevator, Lorenzstraße 15, 76135 Karlsruhe.
