Kino im Blauen Salon (Cinema)

The Blaue Salon is the university's own cinema at the HfG Karlsruhe. The hall was established in 2009 on the initiative of Thomas Heise, then professor of film at the HfG. Since 2017, the hall has been gradually upgraded on its own within the Unikino project. A motorized curtain, as well as a Kasch system were installed, the screen was changed to a room-filling CS format and the projection and audio technology was improved. It was important to install the analog cinema projectors in order to be able to show archive prints in 35mm and 16mm format.

Weekend Entrance On Saturday and Sunday, please enter the building via the main entrances of the ZKM (Platz der Menschenrechte or Lorenzstr. 19) and enter the HfG via ZKM.

Where is the Blaue Salon? The cinema hall of the Hochschule für Gestaltung is located in the so-called Hallenbau, a former industrial building on Lorenzstraße. The 320-metre-long building cannot be overlooked and houses the ZKM - Center for Art and Media in addition to the university. The entrance on the west side can be reached via Lorenzstraße. The entrance on the east side is opposite the new buildings of the employment agency and the federal prosecutor's office.

You will find us on the first floor of the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Lichthof 4, room 012. Detailed description: Go into the building of the Hochschule für Gestaltung (entrance Lorenzstraße 15, main entrance). Cross the large atriums until you are approximately in the middle of the hall-like structure. When you see a large display board with the cinema program, you have found us.

Directions to HfG/ZKM By public transport: From the main station with Tram line 2 (to “Siemensallee über ZKM”), get off at „ZKM“, or with Bus line 55 (to Kühler Krug), get off at „Lorenzstraße/ZKM“.

By car: From the A5 motorway, exit Karlsruhe Mitte, take the southern by-pass, exit 4 ZKM, onto Brauerstraße direction city center, turn left at the second traffic lights onto Südendstraße, the first street on the right is Lorenzstraße.

Parking Spaces: There are about 700 parking spaces available in the paid car park. The »ZKM« car park can be reached via Südendstraße 44, where two charging stations are available for electric cars – while one station is reserved for cars from »Stadtmobil«, the other station can be used by all garage parkers.
