aspect-ratio 10x9 Aktwechsel – 35mm Workshop

Aktwechsel – 35mm Workshop (© Kino im Blauen Salon)

About a decade ago, digitization abruptly and completely changed the cinema landscape. Within a short period of time, films were no longer delivered to cinemas on film reels, but as files on hard drives and now even as downloads. Although digital projection offers many advantages, we attach great importance to continuing the tradition of analog film screening. Whenever possible and appropriate, a 35mm copy of a film is preferred over the digital format. We are well aware that our audience appreciates the love of analog technology. The projection room, the secret place where the light comes from, has often been opened on request. But from now on, the doors will be wide open. Come to the workshop and lend a hand when it's time to say “Lights, camera, action!”

The workshop offers the following:

  • A detailed look behind the scenes of analog film projection in the Blue Salon
  • An introduction to the history of film projection and the identification of different film materials as well as image and sound formats
  • the examination of the film material and preparation for the screening
  • hands-on loading and screening of analog film material, including cross-fading with two projectors

We offer the four-hour taster course for €40 per person
Reduced rate €20. Free for HfG students.
