Dr. Lydia Xynogala, PostDoc in the Department of Art Studies and Media Philosophy at the HfG Karlsruhe, has published an article in the recently released publication Machine Paralysis. The issue is part of the Kyklada.press series initiated by artists and is dedicated to the relationship between technology, body and movement - between standstill and activation.
Xynogala's text introduces an interdisciplinary perspective that operates at the interfaces of architectural history and theory, media philosophy, the history of science and technology, and environmental issues.

Lydia Xynogala has been a PostDoc at the HfG Karlsruhe since 2024. She completed her PhD at the gta Institute of ETH Zurich with distinction. In her dissertation Take Care: Mineralization, Hydrochemistry and the Environments of Greek Thermalism, 19th-20th centuries she explored the interactions between environment, infrastructure and practices of care. The thesis was nominated for the ETH Doctoral Dissertation Medal (review process ongoing).
She has previously taught at institutions such as Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), Columbia University GSAPP, The City College of New York (CCNY), The Cooper Union and Princeton University.
