From March 1 to April 30, the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design will once again be accepting online applications for the 2025/2026 winter semester.

General instructions for application overview of essentials can be found via this link

Those who are accepted to study at the HfG Karlsruhe enjoy the freedom to develop their own potential and to explore their artistic and technical skills in the school's own studios and workshops. For example, the HfG offers a woodworking, model-making, and metalworking workshop, a photo and sound studio, a 3D printing and screen printing workshop, and a plotter room. Students can participate in numerous lecture and film programs and student initiatives, as well as artistic and scientific research projects. Finally, they always have the opportunity to present their work in temporary exhibitions, especially the annual Rundgang—the university's end-of-year exhibition. Students at the HfG enjoy great artistic freedom and are encouraged to develop their own art and design practice.

All degree programs have in common interdisciplinary, mostly project-based work and individual supervision of students. Close cooperation with, above all, the neighboring Center for Art and Media (ZKM) underscores and expands the interdisciplinary orientation. As one of the few universities in Germany, the HfG Karlsruhe also awards Diplom and Magister Artium degrees, which offer great freedom in the design of the course of study. All degrees are fully Bologna-compatible and internationally recognized.

Prospective students are generally advised to take part in portfolio consultations (online consultations are offered).
