Céline Condorelli, Professor of Exhibition Design and Research at the HfG Karlsruhe, is developing a work titled Dedication (To the Sea, To the Sea) for the Folkestone Triennial 2025, one of the most important exhibitions of contemporary art in public space in Great Britain. The work will become a permanent monument to Rosa Luxemburg in 2026.

From July 19 to October 19, 2025, the work will be on display in this year’s Triennial "How Lies the Land?" curated by Sorcha Carey. The 2025 Triennial explores the relationship between humans and land—geographically, historically, and socially. Condorelli's work takes up this reflection on landscape, memory, and the future.

The installation Dedication (To the Sea, To the Sea) consists of flag-like sculptures that turn with the wind, visually connecting the town with the harbor. Using the language of maritime signals, they send messages of devotion, hope, and welcome—and are dedicated to all those whose lives depend on the sea: sailors, fisherpeople, migrants, rescue workers, and marine creatures. The work invites reflection on the different roles of the sea: as a place of recreation and pleasure, as a border to be crossed, as a place of work, and as a home.

Céline Condorelli is an artist interested in the relationships between public and private, art and function, and work and leisure. She often works in dialog with other artists, institutions and public bodies, creating environments that invite reflection, rest and rethinking. Her work proposes new ways of being together and prioritizes collaboration, friendship and the politics of space.

Condorelli was Artist in Residence at the National Gallery in 2023 and is founding director of Eastside Projects in Birmingham. She lives and works in London.
