The documentary offers a vibrant snapshot of the 1980s from the perspective of the African-American and Latin American drag ball scene in Harlem. In a world characterized by homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS and poverty, they make a living. Featuring legendary fashion designers, drag queens and trans women, Paris Is Burning celebrates the joy of movement, the power of eloquence and the appeal of community.

More about the film series "The Cinema of Euphoria"

Euphoria is one of those words that we have inherited from the ancient Greeks. And as with many of these words, the question is: what does it even mean? And since we are a film club, the question is of course: what does it mean to feel euphoria at the movies? Does the selection of films we have put together make us happy, in love with life? Can films still do this in an age in which the image has lost its power due to its inherent oversaturation?

In this summer semester, carried along by spring, we will take you on a journey that examines the concept of euphoria in its many ways of representation and evocation. and evocative possibilities. From Jackie Chan to Werner Herzog, from Singing in the Rain to Leos Carax!
