FURIE is a growing, transmedia project by HfG alumna Isabelle Konrad that collaboratively develops a new visual and auditory language for female anger. Photography, video, installation, sound, and performance—from June through December 2026, the project will take place at studio hö in Karlsruhe, serving as a laboratory and platform for exchange, open to anyone who wants to participate, conduct research, and contribute their experiences, particularly those who were socialized as female. At the heart of the project are two archetypal figures, The Warrior and The Boiling Hot. Their photographs and videos are created as a counterpoint to a visual language that demonizes female anger. At the same time, a digital atlas of female anger is taking shape through collective image research, performative workshops, and the Scream Choir. Invited guests from the fields of art, social practice, and theory contribute further perspectives.

FURIE is a project funded by the studio hö media art grant and will run from June through December 2026. Starting August 11, it will also be part of Media Art is Here, the citywide media art festival taking place in Karlsruhe through September 13.

Coming Up Next:

Anger Archive — collective image-research evenings where we collect, examine, and collage images of angry women from the media, art history, and pop culture. The next sessions are on June 28 and July 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Open to everyone, free of charge, no registration required.

Simmering — a movement and voice workshop with choreographer and performance artist Natalia Di Cosmo from Milan, on July 4 & 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Anger has a boiling point in the body; this workshop explores what happens before it erupts. No prior experience necessary—just curiosity to move, to explore your own anger through performance, and to share it in a collaborative process. The workshop is limited to 8 participants and is explicitly aimed at people socialized as female, ages 16 and up. Early registration is recommended. Free.

Boiling Voices / Scream Choir — starting September 15, every other Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Screaming as a rhythmic, melodic form of singing. Together, we’ll work toward creating a collective anthem of female anger. For people socialized as female, free of charge—just drop by. Youth ages 10 and up are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

The program continues to expand; a panel discussion and other events will follow in the fall. All dates and information, as well as registration for the “Simmering” workshop, can be found at www.isabelle-konrad.com/furie.
